Mildred Carpenter Obituary

Entered into rest Friday, May 12, 2017, Mrs. Mildred "Millie" C. Carpenter, 93, wife of the late Lt. Colonel William Brunson Carpenter.

Millie was born February of 1924 in Cope, SC. She was the daughter of Joseph Harley and Mable Oliver Clark. Millie grew up in Orangeburg, SC and graduated from Orangeburg High School in 1941. She graduated from Limestone College in 1945. Millie has lived in Augusta since 1963 and has been a member of Curtis Baptist Church since 1964. She worked with GA's and served on various committees, including the Curtis Baptist Church Bereavement Committee over the years. Millie was a member of the Nancy Wilcox Sunday School Class and a member of the 39'ers Senior Group. She taught second and third grade at Curtis Baptist School for 20 years. Millie was the director of fourth grade Sunday School department for many years. She was named in Who's Who among American Teachers in 1990. Millie was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution (D.A.R) and the Iris Garden Club.

Family members include children: Cameron C. DeLoach (Dan), Nancy C. Satcher (Ed) and William Carpenter, Jr.; grandchildren: Daniel, Alex (Jordan) and Graham DeLoach, Abbey Murphree (Ryan), Zach Carpenter, Jane S. Ford (Paul), and Bill Satcher (Amanda); and three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Graham Clark Carpenter.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers Latoya Roberson, Charlene Jefferson, Laeisha Hayes, and Precious Roberson.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017, 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Sherrill Dunn and Dr. John C. Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Nancy Wilcox Sunday School Class.
