Susan Shively Obituary

Susan Jean Shively 58, wife of the late Noble Travers Shively, Jr., entered into rest Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at her residence.

Memorial services will be held in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 3:30 P.M., with the Pastor Steve Hartman officiating.

Susan was born in Italy to the late Jimmy and Theresia George. She moved to Augusta as a child where she grew up with her family and graduated from Butler High School in 1976. She was blessed to meet her handsome husband, Tab, at a young age and had three awesome children. Susan was a fierce, sweet, strong and extraordinary wife, mother, oma, daughter and sister to her family. She enjoyed the beach, sleepovers with Isabella, watching television/falling asleep in Wendy's bed, harassing her children and being there for her family for anything. Susan lived for her children and grandchildren and her presence will be felt here on earth for as long as they live. We know God must have needed a strong soul for heaven.

She is survived by her first born daughter, who will always be her baby, Tabitha Jean Calhoun and her favorite son-in-law Kenneth Wayne Calhoun, her two peas in a pod- best friend and second born daughter, Wendy Marie Shively and her baby boy James Travers Shively and her greatest treasures, her grandchildren, Brayden Shaw Calhoun, Isabella Theresia Calhoun and Ava Tamia Settles; siblings, Dolores Broughton, Ralph Broughton and nephew Cliff Broughton.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00 until 3:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

R.I.P. My Friend ..
I will miss you .. at Sams and in the Villa

June 30, 2017

I knew Susan and her family for many years as guests at The Villa Europa, and enjoyed seeing her at our weekly Sam's visit. I often enjoyed conversation with her and her fun-loving attitude at our Oktoberfests. I can still see her being a good sport about dancing with the "Chicken" when I needed a volunteer. Keep us dancing , my friend.

I never saw Sue without a smile on her face, unless it was a smirk which is still technically a smile. I hope to be as strong a person and loving mother and grandmother. Alice

Momma Susan, you will truly be missed a great deal. Every time I came to the house with Wendy, you always had a beautiful smile on your face. I remember those times when you would put aside whatever you had going on just to comfort me during some of the tough times in my life. You were always so kind, sweet, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. Thank you for being my "2nd momma" at times when I needed you the most and mainly, just thank you for being you. I will do my best to be there for my "Wee-Wee Twin", Wendy, because she is truly my sister and I love her very much. Heaven has definitely gained a beautiful and sweet angel. Wendy, Tabitha, and Jimmy, y'all are in my thoughts and prayers and I extend my sincere condolences to the entire family. May God give you all the peace and strength needed to face the days ahead and may He comfort and console you during this time of bereavement. I love you all. ♥♥♥
