Steven Singer Obituary

Singer, Steven Lawrence
On January 30, 2013, the world lost an absolutely amazing man. Steven Lawrence Singer, 48, born July 8, 1964, was tragically taken from the ones he loved and cared about. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and the love of his life of 24 years, Lisa and his sons Ryan (18) and Cory (16), whom he loved very much. He also is survived by his loving parents Judy and Bobby Singer of Palm Springs, CA, brother Scott and sister Shari of Phoenix, and grandmother Helene Raisin of Florida. Also survived by his loving in-laws Sandy and Jerry Levy of Scottsdale, many close family members, and his precious dog Gracie. Steve grew up in West-Bloomfield and moved to Arizona in 1978. After graduating from Chaparral High School he earned a business degree from NAU. He was an accomplished entrepreneur and CEO of Fusion Contact Centers. His passions included mountain trail running and Nastar National Championship ski racing. He was a positive influence on his children and family and his legacy will live on through them and the many lives he touched. Services will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at 2:00 pm at Temple Chai, 4645 E. Marilyn Rd., Phoenix. Graveside services following at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale. I remember Stevie as being an exceptional young man. I was devastated when I heard of his death. His parents have been two of my closest friends for most of my life. I felt a lot of anger that they had to face this. I knew Steve well. I attended his bar mitzvah, wedding and other important family occasions. He will always have a special place in my heart.

Your memory will always be a blessing

What is a mench of a guy? It's someone that has time to care, listen and love. My mench called me "Sue Madre". Oh to hear his voice again would be magic. He will always be a part of us and our family. Stevie accomplished more in his short 48 years then most people do in a life time. How proud he was of Ryan and Cory. As Stevie guides them thru eternity he would of been proud to see what menches they have become. As Steve's parents we pray for peace for Lisa, Ryan and Cory and Scott and Shari.

I haven't seen Steve in about 25 years but I will never forget him. I met Steve in AZA as I had just moved with my family to Phoenix from London and didn't know many people. Steve made me welcome and picked me up in his Jeep many times going to events. We had so much fun in that Jeep riding around with the wind blowing past us. He was such an amazing person that I was compelled to travel to Scottsdale and visit his grave and say a prayer for him and his family. I will always remember Steve as a great guy that would lend a hand and help anybody. My condolences to the family for this tragic loss.

I have been trying to wrap my mind around it since it happened, keeping in mind that I have know Stevie since he was born. I have always had the greatest sense of fondness for the Singer children. Bobby, Judy, and I have had countless conversations on the mechanics of bringing up such mensches. I will mourn your loss for a very long time. Stevie was a wonderful human being. I am so privelged to be Steve's 1st cousin. Steve was like a brother. We can all learn important life lessons from Steve. He lived life to its fullist, loved his family like no one I have ever known, and set a great example for all of us. His smile was contagious. We never know what the future holds, so we can best honor Steve's memory by living life the way he would, with kindness, support, an open mind, love, and a big smile!! The world was a better place because of Steve. And, now he has the gift of eternity. To my family, I share in your pain, as Steve was taken from us way to soon. Lisa, Ryan, Cory, Shari, Scott, Judy and Bobby, please know that I am always there for you. I think about you every day. I love you all. RIP cuz, I love you, and miss you terribly!!!

Sitting shivah (is that how you spell it?) is such a great tradition...as is this Guest Book. I say that because you just never know who will pop in, say something, deliver a story you've never heard before. I don't know if I'm that guy, but I do know that Steve was a great, great guy.

I really knew Steve from a distance. When I served on the Board of Directors of the local Direct Marketing club, Steve came to a telemarketing presentation and afterwards, gave me "thumbs up". He said the presentation was fair and even-handed. I was so impressed with him! His suit was gorgeous. Hell, he was gorgeous! What a great figure he cut! Smart, fast, real charisma.

Cut ten years later and I ran into Steve and Lisa at Zinburger with my two big dogs. Maybe the only time I'd met Lisa. I remember Steve was wearing very dressy, very expensive sandals or loafers...Steve was even more polished than I'd remembered. Of course, real success will do that to someone like Steve. I recall thinking that he was very comfortable. With himself, with life, with his wife...confident, comfortable.

The world is far less without Steve but I know that Steve, the person, his abilities, determination, really set a standard for which we can all strive. May God bless you all.

To the Singer Family, While Steve and I lost contact over the years, I have countless memories of him and his family. We both arrived in Scottsdale from places East in 1978 and Steve and I bonded over tennis, Jumbo's Pizza (Rob Zack, Steve and I would get 2 slices and a soda for $1.00),ping-pong and through AZA. First time skiing, Steve "Doug, you can play tennis, skiing should be easy for you"-- takes me to the top of Sunrise (2 hours later I finish walking down the mountain). Finally, Steve showed us academic types that a strong work ethic, a good dose of commonn sense, confindence and a good business mind trumps anything we learn in school. I will miss you Steve.

Steve Singer was a great entrepreneur and businessman. I worked for Steve's company DMS in the mid-'90s while attending ASU.

He treated his employees like family and DMS gave everyone (and I mean everyone) a chance to improve their lot in life. DMS was a motley combination of AZ newcomers, college students, retirees, and folks that had made big life mistakes. DMS gave everyone a chance.....it was
quintessential Arizona. Steve's company influenced and changed countless lives.

Steve's family can be proud that not only was he a great dad and husband, but a great entrepreneur and employer as well.

The world will miss Steve.

Lisa, Ryan & Cory,
I have not seen you in years but I have been remembering those preschool years at Temple Chai, such innocence and joy. Seeing Ryan and Cory speaking so eloquently about their Dad made me realize how grown up all of our kids are. I didn't know Steve but I just know that you and your family will grow into a new normal with Steve always looking over your shoulders. The crowd at Temple on Sunday was evidence of his place in this community and I hope that brings a smile to your heart.
Most Sincerely, Alisa

Steve your beautiful smile & caring natued will always be remembered . Our family was truly blessed to know you.We will think of you on trail 100 xox

To the Singer family,
My wife worked for and with Steve for over seven years. When I would visit the office I would always pop into his office and say hello. We got together and started a Fusion fantasy football league that I managed. The first year Steve won and he was so proud that he went out and bought a Fusion fantasy football league trophy. Well we all knew that it was you Ryan that beat us. My condolences to your entire family.

We wanted to wish you all the strength in the world for the funeral on Sunday and for the hours and days that follow. We know it will be such a difficult day (and time) for all of you. We continue to mourn for Lisa, Ryan, Cory and everyone in the Levy family, as well as for Steve's parents, siblings, grandmother (so sad), and the rest of all of your friends and families (and also for poor Gracie the dog who is surely aware that he is gone and, despite being a dog, can most definitely sense the sadness all around her). :-( In a situation like this, people always say, "I can't even imagine what you're going through", and this is true - it's just unfathomable that this could happen...that it is real. Just the pure shock of it alone is unimaginable. :-( All we can do is hope - as cliche as it sounds - that time will help you through these devastating days...and that the love of your family and friends will help soothe you. We are thinking of you non-stop here in Chicago and wish we could be there to give you all hugs. The sense of loss we feel is immeasurable. Sending tons of love, prayers, and strength. We are so sorry. Love, Cousin Melissa (Levin), my husband Mike, baby Julian (and Conan & Buddha, the dogs) xoxoxoxo

February 3, 2013

Dear Lisa, Ryan and Cory,
Words could not possibly express the sadness we feel, both for the loss of our friend, and more so for the loss of an amazing husband and father. We will forever treasure the wonderful memories we have of Steve. May you find comfort in knowing the amazing impact he had on our lives and Josh's. He was always positive and encouraging. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
With Love,
