Harlan Harris Obituary
several awards for innovative practices in Fleet Management. In 1985, he was elected President of the Equipment Services Division of the American Public Works Assn. Following retirement, he was active in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, working on the Tuesday crew at South Ranch. He also tutored several students in the Oasis program and helped to refurbish the Wurlitzer Theatre Organ in the downtown Orpheum Theatre. Harlan is survived by his wife, Joanne; step-daughters, Marci Miller and Patricia (Terry) Blessing; grandchildren, Teddy and Katie Blessing and sister, Gladys Hallstrom. A celebration of Harlan's life will be held on Wednesday, March 15th at 1:30PM, Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Harlan Harris to Habitat for Humanity VOS, P.O. Box 20186, Phoenix, AZ, 85036-0186.

Dear Joanne,
Joyce Ann and I are both saddened to learn of Harlan's passing.
He was a good man both on and off ship. Harlan set the course...he took us there and brought us back...port to port, unerringly. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Joanne; Both Eva Marie and I want to send our Sympathy for your loss of your Best Friend and Lover!
We were so glad to have been able to visit your Home in Phoenix and when we met at the Association Reunion in Kansas City. I never expected to be able to renew contact with shipmates from the 200 , but fate has smiled on all of us, giving us enough years to realize how important we might have been to each other in that one year we spent as Shipmates!
