I will always continue to be grateful to you for getting my career started after moving to Arizona and getting my first position as assistant principal under your leadership. It was you and Dr. Greenfield who made all of this possible for me. I was able to move forward to other positions and had a great career as principal of four schools, director of personnel, and assistant supt. for Human Resources. May you continue to rest in peace.

I still would like to think of the late Mr. Swindall as the individual who gave me the opportunity to become an administrator. Dr. Greenfield encouraged him to select me as his assistant principal in 1970 when I had a graduate class at Southern University where he taught every summer. After one year as his assistant, I became the second principal of Palmdale School. From there, my career went from principal to principal of three additional schools and finally as Assistant Supt. of Human Resources. I will always be appreciative to him.

I will always remember him for the chance he gave me into the world of school administration.
I will always be grateful to him for your kindness.

A Gentle Giant, Mr Swindall, I was sadden to learn of your death and you will be missed dearly. He came into my life 42 years ago as principal of Palmdale Elementary School. I was hired as a first year teacher. Our lives were reunited when Mr. Swindall visited a small Fashion Boutique with Pastor Keener in July of this year, he had no idea. I was so grateful that God gave me the opportunity to thank Mr. Swindall, share precious school memories and let him know how much he was loved and appreciated. He was such a kind gentle giant of a man. I feel blessed that God allowed us to reunite three times before his departure, Rest in Peace Mr. Swindall (God Bless the family.)

I knew Wellington when we both attended Bluefield State. As a veteran, like so many of the guys attending Bluefield State in the late 4o's, he was several years my senior but he was close to our Dean of Women so I saw him a lot. I was proud to be at the commencement where he received his honorary doctorate. He was a credit to his race, his profession, his undergraduate alma mater and his fraternity. As an Alpha Kappa Alpha woman and fellow Bluefield Alumnus, I send my sincere condolences to his family. Embrace fond memories of a life well lived. Sincerely, GoGo Powell (Gloria Stanford)

Mr. Swindall, I will miss him dearly as he has been a part of my life for 45 years. As he was the principal of Palmdale School where I started Kindergarten. Our lives joyously reunited this year while we mutually attended as guest of a church program, I invited him to be a special guest for my 50th birthday celebration in July. He so graciously accepted, attended and spoke so eloquently. I am so blessed to have shared these moments with him to complete our circle of life. "Swinky" will be missed.

As the Director of Alumni Affairs, I was saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Swindall. I had the opportunity to first meet him when he returned to the "Terraced Hills" to receive his Honorary Doctorate degree and later that summer in Atlanta when he was recognized for his philanthropic gifts to his alma mater. He was a kind, giving person and friend and will be missed. He has blessed so many students at Bluefield State College. Words cannot express his kindness.
May God bless and keep the family.
