Jamieson Kennedy Obituary

Kennedy, Jamieson "Jay"
51, of Tempe, AZ passed away on April 11, 2015. Living with passion, persevering in the face of adversity, and having the heart of a champion are just three of the many inspiring mantras that Jay lived by and shared with the world. Anyone who was fortunate to have known Jay could attest to his motivating and lively spirit, contagious work ethic, and passionate heart. Husband of Ellen; Father of Caroline and Stephanie- Jay was born and raised in the beautiful mountains of Colorado Springs. A "Forever Buff", Jay attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating with a degree in Biology. His hard work and inspiration lead him to a successful career as an Orthopaedic Sales Rep for Stryker in Phoenix- where he thrived as an incredible leader and inspiration to many. Jay was up for any challenge, he was 110% committed to accomplishing it. After countless hours of training, Jay accomplished the "Leadville 100" mountain bike race last August. Furthermore, Jay rode in the Ride for Semper Fi - a 430 mile bike ride from Phoenix to San Diego- in honor and support of injured military heroes. Jay utilized his impeccable strength to help wounded veterans by physically pushing them from behind. These events plus many more are not only a testament to Jay's hard work and determination, but to his true Heart of a Champion ethic. Jay supported Ellen, Caroline and Stephanie through countless experiences and challenges, supporting Ellen in completing Ironman Triathlon 2008, and he never missed a volleyball, swim meet or school function. Jay encompasses the true meaning of love, always putting his family before himself, and provided them with an everlasting foundation of love and affirmation. Jay's spirit not only lives on through his friends and family, but through his keen and eternal passions. From the ski slopes of Colorado to the bike paths across the west, Jay's journey left an everlasting impact on the lives of many. May this Heart of a Champion forever live on. A celebration of Jay's life will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Arizona Community Church, 9325 S. Rural Road,Tempe, AZ 85284 480-491-2210. I am so sorry for your loss! I was a childhood friend from church choir and didn't keep up with Jay, but I will always remember one incident when we were hiking down Horn Peak and some people off in the distance were sliding down a patch of snow. We stopped to watch them and one did not stop at the bottom, but continued bouncing like a rag doll down the rocks below. Jay immediately ran over to see if he could help, even as a young kid,and I remember thinking that he was a good one to go because his dad was a doctor. (childhood logic) It sounds like he continued his life of help and service to others and will be greatly missed by many. My condolences to all who knew and loved him.
