Age 72, of Phoenix, AZ. It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of John Paul Gill, on May 21, 2010. John is survived by his sister and her spouse: Sybil and Chuck Daggett; by his children and their spouses: Mike and Debra Gill, Shawn and Holli Gill, Michelle and Randy Baum and Andrea and Duane Whitead; and by his grandchildren: Brittany, Callie, and Liam Gill, James and Reese Whitead, and Ryan Baum. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved extended family and friends. John loved the outdoors and liked to spend his time camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking. Family and friends are fortunate to have cherished memories of these great times and John was blessed to have passed doing what he loved most, enjoying the mountains with his family. He was born in Mississippi on March 15, 1938, but spent most of his life in Arizona. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, had a degree in business, and spent most of his career in banking. He spent the last 12 years enjoying retirement by spending time outdoors and finding antiques and treasures at yard sales. Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 30 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 West Northern Avenue, Glendale. In honor of John's love of the outdoors, the family is accepting donations made payable to AZ Game and Fish Department.
