I've been watching hurricane Florence on the news and contacted some friends on Harkers Island, North Carolina to see how they were doing and if they elected to evacuate to a safe place. I started remembering my time as a missionary on the island and decided to try and google some people from my mission, that's when I found the obituary of President Alexander.

President Charles M. Alexander was my mission President in the North Carolina Greensboro mission from September 73-75. I had only been a member of the church for a little over a year and not really knowing much about the gospel he and Sister Alexander was really had a lot of patience with me as I learned the gospel and became a real missionary. Over the years I've had the great opportunity to keep in touch with the Alexander's and one of the biggest thrills for me and my wife was when we would meet them in the temple and perform sealings with him. He and his wife have had a positive influence on my life every since my time in N.C. They were both really great individuals they will always be missed. I hope for only the best of memories for his children and the knowledge of how great their parents are.

President Alexander was my mission president 40 years ago. Over many years I have wondered how he was doing and now 40 years later, I just thought I would google his name. I was very surprised and saddened that he passed away only two years ago. Now I regret not having stayed in touch with him over the years and to express to him how much I loved and respected him. He was a man of great love and devotion to the cause of Zion. How grateful we should all be to have such wonderful men in the church. God bless President Alexander.

President Charles M. Alexander was my mission President in the North Carolina Greensboro mission where I served from 1972-1974. President Alexander was a hero to me. He had a fiery personality and he loved to get things done. He had a great sense of humor and he loved to make a point emphatically. I will never forget the time when he was speaking about the atonement of Jesus Christ and he ripped off his mission name tag and stuck the pin in his finger and said as the blood flowed out of his finger that is blood, that is blood let us remember he bled and died for us. I will never forget him all the days of my life. I have no doubt he did not go quietly. I love you and miss you President Alexander.

President Alexander was a great mission president! It was my privilege to serve under him in the North Carolina Greensboro Mission from March, 1974 to March, 1976. He is one of the most inspirational and memorable people in my life. I just learned of his passing from reading the Church News. In extending condolences to his family, I yet rejoice with them that President and Sister Alexander are together again and engaged in the Lord's great work on the other side of the veil.

He is one of the most special and memorable people in my life. Just learned of his passing from reading the Church News. Naturally I extend condolences to his family, but I also rejoice with them that President and Sister Alexander are together again. The Lord will make great use of their service, there, and they will be devoted and powerful in all He gives them to do!

President Alexander was the mission President when as a boy my parents and I were tracked into by two of his wonderful missionaries, Elders Mark Crane and Paul Murray in Lenoir NC. He became our first "spiritual giant" as he guided the missionaries and worked directly with the saints of the Hickory District. God bless him for the service rendered to so very many all of those years ago.

I have known the Alexander family all my life. As little children we all played together and my parents were great friends with them, even after our families moved away from each other. I remember what a sweet, soft spoken man he was and q great example of a Christ-like person. I am deeply sorry for the Alexander familys loss and want them to know i send my love and join with them in the knowledge that we will see Charlie again. My Dad, Greg Doyle, is having a great reunion with him as I write this and probably planning a big party!
Love you all,

Charlie always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. Lothaire was privileged to be his home teacher many years ago in Tucson. He was a wonderful mentor and very encouraging to a young starving student and his wife! He truly emulated Christlike love. He will be missed here, but joyfully welcomed on the other side! Till we meet again - With much love, Lothaire & Connie
