Carl Emeritus Bookout November 3, 1932 - November 27, 2010 Carl Emeritus Bookout was born November 3, 1932, in Etowah, TN, to George and Carrie Bookout. Carl attended local elementary, middle, and high schools within the same community. Carl was a very gifted athlete throughout high school. He excelled in both football and basketball. While in high school, he met the "Love of His Life" his beautiful wife, Princess Flora Bookout. They were married shortly after Carl's graduation. In 1953, they moved to Bakersfield. They have been blessed with two wonderful children, their daughter, Georgia Bookout Peck, married to Stephen Peck, and son, Gregory Bookout, married to Lisa Esponda Bookout. Both children currently live in Bakersfield, CA. He is also survived by his brother, Marvin Bookout, residing in Memphis, TN. Carl is most proud of his grandchildren, Blaise Bookout and wife, Elizabeth, (children, Rebecca and Aaron), Abriana Bookout Frith and husband, Jack, and Myka Peck and Tiler Peck. Carl was self-employed for 28 years locally. He owned Carl's Dismantling, in Bakersfield, and Subway Auto Wrecking, in Delano. He was also employed for a short time as the body shop manager at Three Way Chevrolet Company. He retired in 1980 and has enjoyed the fellowship of his family ever since. Carl was an avid motorcycle and car racing enthusiast. His son, Greg, was deeply involved; and Carl was there to support him in all of his endeavors. His daughter, Georgia, has excelled in dance. Carl's athletic talents were obviously passed on to his children. Carl loved his family, and he will be with and watch over each of them "From Above." Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:30, with a chapel service on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. Greenlawn Mortuary www.bakersfield.com/obits
