Dolores Yvonne Williams Harris 1926 - 2010 Dolores Yvonne Williams Harris was born October 7, 1926 to Harold Dwight Williams and Elsie Hintz Williams, in Newton, Kansas. Her dad was a minister for a short time. She became a Christian and never lost her faith, she prayed daily. She was going to a teachers college in Greeley, Colorado, when Chief Harris, who was stationed at Grand Island Nebraska Air Force Base, where Chief and Dolores, after a short courtship, they were married in Maryville, Kansas, on August 4, 1946 by Reverend Stucky. Soon after, Chief brought Dolores to California to stay with his mother and father, as Chief was being transferred to Alaska. Dolores continued and completed her schooling at San Francisco State College where she received her Master's degree. Dolores first taught at an elementary school in Pritchett, CO. Her teaching spanned some 38 years, when a severe heart attack ended her career. Dolores became a renowned artist. Dolores' oil paintings were mainly native American subjects consisting of portraits and landscapes. Dolores was an accomplished seamstress; she could make a man's suit comparable to those in some better clothing stores. Dolores and Chief were married for 64 years; they had two sons, Steven E. Harris, wife Cinda. They have a daughter Misty and a son Randy. Their second son Alan J. Harris, wife Lori. They have a son Richard, a daughter Stefani and a son Jonathan. Her special Aunt Cora Williams Burger, and Uncle Rynal Burger, live in Kansas. Some of her cousins were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Seibel, Mr. and Mrs. Emorey Seibel and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Seibel. In-laws, Mrs. Billie Bizieff, Mrs. Shirley Osborne Pilkauskas, and Leonard Harris, and many nieces, nephews and cousins on the Harris, Shatswell and Williams' side of the family. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 3rd, 2:00 p.m., at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, at the Fort Tejon Ranch. Pastor Sylvia Ann Lacks will officiate. There will be a reception at the Lake Bizieff Home, 13119 Appaloosa Ave. immediately after the burial. All of Dolores' and Chief's family and friends are welcome.
