I was at the funeral home for the past two days as my Uncle Ronnie Morgan was there. I saw the name Lisa Deeds and while it sounded familiar, I didn't really connect it with the Lisa I knew years ago. I was drinking a cup of coffee this morning in the front room at the funeral parlor and saw the photo of Lisa on the table. My heart sank as I saw it was the Lisa I used to know.

I am not sure but think she may have played on The Elm Avenue Playground when I did in the 70's. She was a few years younger than I so if she was there, I guess we didn't play much together. I also knew her later.

In 1980 I worked in the stock room at G.C. Murphy's so I would see her when I was unloading the truck and we would talk occasionally.

In the mid to late 80's I saw and got reacquainted with her at The Gallery Mall downtown, where I was an electrical apprentice for Local 24 and she was an elevator mechanic's apprentice for the elevator local (she may have been working with her father at the time).

Our paths crossed several other times throughout the years as our lives seemed to parallel in other ways.

I know she is connected in other ways also. I believe she was related to my cousin, Jeannie Carnes. I also believe her brother may be married to my cousin, Vicky.

I have thought of her throughout the years and, since I always liked her so much and thought she was such a nice person, always hoped to see her again so we could reconnect. I knew she no longer lived on Elm Avenue but figured out paths would cross again. I just figured we would reconnect. Sadly, it was not until today that that happened. While I am grateful for the few moments today, I wish it would have happened before.

Once I realized who she was, I went into the room and spent a few minutes with Lisa. I am sorry I didn't come and pay my respects to her family and share my memories of her in person. I am sure she is in a much better place now and hope her family can take comfort in knowing that at this difficult time.

I know I rambled a bit but since I didn't get to share my memories in person, I figured I would share them here.

Shirley & Family,
I am so sorry to hear about Lisa. She was such a sweet kind person, who no matter what she had been through always seemed to find a smile to share with others.
No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.
