NEWPORT - Leslie D. Watson, 77, died April 18, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 16, 1933, in Fort Fairfield, a son of the late Stephen and Alice (Armstrong) Watson. He graduated from Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1952, and served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Roosevelt. Leslie had been employed at Baxter's Canning Co., Hartland, until it went out of business. He then worked at Irving Tannery, Hartland, and for 18 years was employed as a product manager for Bradford Industries, Lowell, Mass., until his retirement. After retirement, he liked to hunt and fish and had great stories to tell of his "BIG" catch. He loved it when he could take his grandsons, Curtis and Colby, with him. He is survived by his wife, Tonya (Woodman) Watson of Newport; two sons, Wayne and wife, Melissa Watson, of Newport and Stephen Watson of Roslindale, Mass.; stepson, Brian Weymouth of Manchester, N.H.; a brother, Ronald Watson of Hartland; a sister, Jacqueline and husband, William Watts, of Point, Texas; three grandsons, Colby, Curtis and Kyle; a stepgranddaughter, Brandi; nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by a son, Michael. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Graveside services will be held later in the spring at Jordan Cemetery, Hartland. Those who wish may leave written tributes at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
