Mary Wilkey Obituary

Mary Ann Wilkey Dayton, TN Mary Ann Wilkey, 100, of Dayton, TN passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Battle Creek Health System. She was born November 4, 1910 in Birchwood, TN the daughter of George Washington and Sarah Jane (Young) Lawson. She married William C. "Bill" Wilkey on October 13, 1930 in Rhea County, TN and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1983. Mary worked as a braider for 30 years for the Shipley Basket Factory of Dayton, TN, retiring in 2000. She also worked for Walridge Knitting Mills as a looper for 10 years and in a crate factory. When she lived in Battle Creek, she worked for the Holiday Inn as a housekeeper. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Helen Wilkey of Battle Creek; grandchildren, J.R. (Wanda) Roberts of Dayton, TN, Linda (Ernie) Onks of Dayton, TN, Mary (Bill) Kirkpatrick of Trenton, GA, William "Melvin" Wilkey of Battle Creek, Charles (Patty) Wilkey of Battle Creek, Yvonne "Carol" and Brent West of Battle Creek, Debra (Jim) Hosking of Ceresco, Marianne (John) Girdley of Battle Creek, Betty (Mark) Payne of Longwood, FL, Teresa (Chris) Miller of Bellevue; 22 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren, 4 step-great-great grandchildren. Mary really loved her family and she will be greatly missed by them. She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Helen Roberts, William "Ted" Wilkey; 5 brothers, 2 sisters; granddaughter, Dottie Roberts; great granddaughter, Julie Brown and great-great grandson, Tucker Megaris. Funeral services will be held at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee. Burial will be at the Rhea Memorial Gardens in Dayton, TN. Memorial tributes may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice or Dayton Tennessee Area Hospice. aunt Mary was an amazing woman although my bilogical dad has too passed i was not close to this side of my family.but aunt mary would keep track of me for sure.im going to miss her very much.prayers to my family.
