I was so glad that I was able to see Uncle Dude before I returned to TN. I had a good conversation with him and talked about the SC Trip we all made and we blew up the truck. Remember he was my stand in Dad some 28 years (1/22/83) ago. We had some great times wheh we we all young, even the mailbox incident with Rodney. I am glad I had a hand in raising ya'll and spending those special times with our families. Keep hearing those voice all the time and you will keep them both so fresh in your minds. Time heals but they will not be forgotten. They were both so loved by so many people. Love and miss all of you Judy in TN

I am so sorry for your loss and what you must be feeling. Von was a very special man and he spent many hours at our kitchen table drinking coffee and teasing our girls Lori, Stacy & Leslie when they were little. He always had a great smile for everyone. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I have memories of attending the one room school house (Old Red). He was always the fastest in the multiplication contests we used to have. Everybody always tried to beat him, but couldn't. We spent many hours on the playground playing anti over the school house and softball. Skating across from Smiths house was always fun to. We will miss him. Prayers to his children for comfort at this time of loss.

Very sorry for your loss. Von was a great man. A very patient man. I remember when he taught us to rebuild a 350 engine and when we would do something that didnt work he would laugh. He loved that. May God comfort your whole family during this time.

It was heartwarming to share Christmas Eve with Von and our entire family this year. The largest gathering to date and he was very much a part of it. I remember him most from when I was little and he used to call me and my sister little boys...he will always be a part of our lives.

"It seems wherever I go,
People come into my life and go out.
Touching me where I can feel,
Then leaving only a memory
Like the gossamer fairy tales of children easily forgotten.
And I wasn't through knowing them.

How do I know
Whom I am seeing for the last time?
How do you halt your life
To gather and keep fairy tales from losing their magic?

So come.
Brush against the walls of my life
And stay long enough for us to know each other,
Even though you know we will have to part some time.
And we both know the longer you stay,
The more I will want you back when you have gone.

But come anyway.
For fairy tales are the happiest stories we know,
And great books are made of little chapters."

Uncle Dude was the coolest Uncle! When I was little he would hang me on a door knob by my overalls when I was bad. I have heard this story so many times, and it still makes me laugh. I remember him taking Peet and I for motorcycle rides. And letting me play on his C.B. radio. I had so many fun times at Uncle Dude and Aunt Becky's house! So many happy memories! I know he is In heaven looking down and smiling at everyone. With all my love, Mari Elizabeth Kreps-Coggins

Dear Grandpa
I'm writing this letter to you today to tell you how much I miss you. No one will ever call me Sweetums again and no one will ever ask me, "Is my hair okay."
The days will eventually get easier to deal with and soon enough the pain will go away. But you'll always be missed but you'll ALWAYS be in my heart.
I hope you and Grandma are happy together again! I'm glad you let me share your special anniversary with you guys!
I love you today, tomorrow, and forever

My name is Dick Wells and I was stationed with Von at Glasgow Air Force Base in the early 1960's. When Von and Becky got married in July of 1963, my wife Darlene played the organ for their wedding. It was held in the chapel on the air base. A bunch of us guys got together and paid for one night at a local motel for their wedding night. After that night, both Von and Becky stayed with us in our 10 x 50 mobile home for a few nights. Then Becky went back to Michigan, while Von prepared to leave on his new assignment to Newfoundland. Good memories! Von was well like by everyone. His nickname was "VD" for Von Duane. He always told his buddies that Michigan was the only state with flying mud turtles!
You have our deepest sympathies in the loss of both of your parents. Sincerely, Dick and Darlene Wells

Dear Von - I remember hiding from you when I was a kid because you always 'threatened' to give me smooches. =) Now I'm sending lots of smooches to you.
You were a good friend of my dad's, and now you guys are together in heaven watching over us...and I'm sure causing all sorts of trouble. ;-)

My heart goes out to your family, as I know exactly what they are going through right now. Lots of love to all of them.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
