Constance Schueneman Obituary

SCHUENEMAN, CONSTANCE Constance R. Schueneman, age 74 years, went to heaven on September 3, 2014 in Tampa, FL. She was born in East Cleveland, OH on November 24th, 1939, to the late Bud and Jean Retter. A short time later, the Retters moved to Findlay, OH, where Connie grew up. After graduating from The Ohio State University she was hired by a small startup called International Business Machines, today known simply as IBM. In the late 1950's and early 1960's, a woman working in the computer industry was quite rare. Connie married Lou Schueneman on June 29, 1963. After raising her family, she taught computer science and information technology at Delta College as an associate professor with a Masters Degree from Michigan State University. She retired from Delta College in 2005, continuing to pursue her favorite pastimes of bridge, golf, travel, puzzles, children and grandchildren. After retiring, Connie and Lou bought a home in Fort Myers, FL. For several years, they wintered in Fort Myers and summered in Bay City. Every December, the family was invited to Fort Myers to celebrate Christmas with Connie and Lou. Connie always had an "open door policy" for family and friends who were welcomed anytime. In 2013, Connie and Lou celebrated their 50th anniversary in Cancun, Mexico with their children and grandchildren. This year they sold their Bay City home to become Fort Myers residents. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Lou Schueneman; three children, Bill (Lisa) Schueneman, Laura Schueneman, and Julia (Andrew) Reynolds; four grandchildren, Lexie, Drew, Cameron and Peyton; her sister, Carol (Jim) Paul, and brother, Ross (Susan) Retter. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 103 E. Midland Street, Bay City, MI 48706, (989) 686-1360. The Rev. Matthew Schramm will officiate. The family will greet visitors at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the service time. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service. A second memorial service will be held in Fort Myers, FL at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Delta College Foundation or your favorite charity.

I had the pleasure of having Connie as an instructor. She was always willing to help her students, which left a last impression. Years later I ran into her at the Bishop airport we were on the same flight going to Ft. Myers and it was so easy talking to her after all those years. What a wonderful woman, She will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers to her family.

May the roads rise up to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

May the rains fall soft upon fields

And until we meet again

May God hold you in the palm of his hand

Peace be with you Lou
