Jim was a wonderful man who believed in many causes, but his number one focus was always family. I will never forget how he enjoyed riding Trigger, Mae's horse at her father's farm. For many years, there was the annual Mersinger family picnic in the summer, and Jim would saddle up two horses--Trigger and Hondo-- and help all the kids get a ride on a horse, me included. I got in line several times for a ride. These memories as a child perhaps helped develop my love for horses as I had two of my own for over ten years in the west. I loved his laugh and smiles. I will miss my first cousin. Jim was a big man with an even bigger heart.
