Christopher Grawitch

Christopher Michael "Chris" Grawitch, 47, born Feb. 10, 1963, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed on to heaven Monday, Jan. 17, 2011.

Chris was raised in Fairview Heights, Ill., as a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. He was a 1981 graduate from Belleville Township High School East. He served in the United States Army from September 1981 until being honorably discharged on Sept. 28, 1985. He was a HVAC service technician for more than 25 years and was in the process of starting his own HVAC business. He was vice-president of the Henryville Golden Band Boosters. He was a proud father of two loving children and never passed up an opportunity to be involved with activities that his kids took part in.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Thomas Grawitch, Sr.; and his beloved sister, Katherine Irene Bugg.

Surviving are his wife, Renda Higgs Grawitch, whom he married on Aug. 31, 1985; a daughter and her fiance, Billie Jo Grawitch and Matthew Stevens of Borden, Ind.; a son, Daniel Christopher Grawitch of Borden, Ind.; granddaughter, Shelby Alexis Stevens of Borden, Ind.; his mother, Eileen, nee Spiess, Cason of Fairview Heights, Ill.; nine siblings, Donna Humphreys and her husband, Philip of Fairview Heights, Ill., Joseph Thomas Grawitch, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Barnhart, Mo., William Grawitch of St. Louis, Mo., Andrew Grawitch of Fairview Heights, Ill., John Grawitch and his wife, Lori of Mascoutah, Ill., brother-in-law, Thomas Bugg of Swansea, Ill., Michael Grawitch and his wife, Shavone of St. Peters, Mo., Patrick Grawitch and his wife, Tina of Waterloo, Ill., Victoria Grawitch of Collinsville, Ill., and Matthew Grawitch of Breese, Ill.; and countless nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Adams Funeral Home, 209 S. Ferguson St., Henryville, IN 47126.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at Henryville Baptist Church, 110 Francke Rd., Henryville, Ind.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at Henryville Baptist Church, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

I knew Chris from High School and he was a good friend. I also had the priveledge of working with his brother Andy for a few years.
