I regret that I cannot attend the memorial services for Tom and would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Hunsinger family and their friends during what must seem an impossible time. Though we had fallen out of touch over the years, separated by thousands of miles, Tommy and I were inseparable during our years together at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic school in Collinsville. We became fast friends immediately and shared too many memories and laughs to recount here. On Confirmation day we took each others middle names as a show of friendship and I am forever grateful to his family's hospitality during the many days that I spent at their house. I still remember his mom's warm smile, his dad's steady hand and his brothers' boundless energy, an energy that Tom personified in life and something that death can transform but cannot vanquish. As you struggle with your loss, please accept my wishes for a divine peace and strength to carry you in its loving arms, along with this gentle reminder that your son and brother made friends who will not forget him in death, but will remember the light that he shined on our lives.
