Craig Davis Obituary

Craig Garrett Davis passed away on April 23, 2011 in Bellingham, Washington. He was born on November 15, 1934 in Portland, Oregon to George W. and Rachel (Garrett) Davis. Because Craig's father was a credit bureau troubleshooter and the family moved frequently, Craig attended 8 different grade schools and 4 high schools, finally graduating from Everett High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree, earning a major in English and one in History, from Western Washington State College. He attended the University of Washington for one year, dropping out to join the Marines where he served in Korea and Japan before returning to earn his Juris Doctorate in 1965. He then practiced law in Seattle for one year before moving to Bellingham where he practiced for 44 years before retiring. One of the highlights of his career was arguing a case before the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington D.C. Craig enjoyed fishing, playing board games, watching movies, reading and traveling. Craig will be greatly missed by his wife, Judy L. Davis; his son, Tobin B. Davis, daughter Sissy L. Davis and step-son, Robert W. Hayter; his grandchildren, Brian Hayter, Brooke Hayter, Glenn Davis and Justin Davis; his sister, Diane Anderson of Surprise, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request, no funeral services will be held. He has requested that his family and friends get together and scatter his ashes in Chuckanut Bay where he spent many hours fishing and tending his crab pots. Donations in his name can be made to The Alzheimer's Society of Washington, 1308 Meador Avenue, Bellingham, WA 98229. Dear Judy and Family:
My memories of Craig involve our shared legal related work. I found Craig to be a most friendly and helpful person when I stopped by your offices on Commercial Street. I know these last years have been difficult and I admire you in how you handled your lives with dignity and humor. My best wishes to you and your family.

One of my fondest memories of Craig was his shortest but successful elk hunt on Blewett Pass in the blue Mercury four door.He was so proud.

My thoughts and Prayers are with you all. Criag was simply one of those people you had to admire. We had talked of "Cat fishing" on each occassion we meant. Well, I still plan on doing that, in Gods time. Craig, fry a few before I get there! Love ya "Bud"!

Judy,

My prayers go out to you, Tobin, Sissy, and Bob. I have so many memories that involve your family, much of my childhood was spent either at Consolidation or Chuckanut Point. I carry a lot of great memories of Craig, vacationing at Lake Curlew was always my favorite.
