Dear Ted,
I was so sad to hear the news of Joanie's passing. She was always so caring and kind to me and always treated me like a friend and not just her hairdresser. She was so generous to me when I was injured 8 yrs ago and couldn't work. She was always the first person to jump in and help someone else. She will be missed so much.

I had the priviledge of meeting you and Joan many years ago through your daughter, Ellen. I never met anyone with such zest for life, for enjoying and spreading happiness, and for doing as much good as Joan. Over the years, as I read the many reports of both your and Joan's involvement and support of so many worthy causes, I felt proud to have known you both just a little.
The world has been made a much better place by Joan's life in it.

Teddy,Robbie,Joel and Ellen I was saddened to learn of the passing of Joanie. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. She was an incredible woman with an infectious smile. I have thought of Joanie often and have many fond memories from when I was young. I'm happy that my dad and brother were able to attend her memorial. Although I was unable to attend my thoughts and prayers were there. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing she was loved by many people; one of them being me. I was waiting for the Longwood Medical Area van this morning at the Hammond Pond temple. Throngs of people kept coming by car and walking on foot. I thought it was for the Jewish high holidays but why were we still allowed to park our cars in the temple's lot? Someone said it was a funeral, but I didn't think there would be hundreds of people coming to a funeral. It was a testimony to you mother and wife's life that there were so many people coming to a memorial on short notice to honor her memory and life. I was truly amazed and wish I had known about her before her untimely death. She must have been a wonderful person, someone to be missed.

I happen to be one of the few musicians remaining from Ted's musical career, which was probably the beginning of a life of charity and making people happy. For me, the entire Cutler family was and is a source of light and good feelings and noone exemplified it better than Joan. Seeing her always made my day brighter and no matter what was going on, her infectious smile and positive spirit and great laugh stayed with me long after I left her company.
Teddy, I have admired your remarkable partnership with Joan and I know her spirit and love will always be with you.
No children could love a mother more than you three have and I can only imagine the loss you are feeling.

Dear Teddy, Robbie, Pam, Joel, Randy, Ellen and Richard, and of course the rest of the family. It is so difficult for me to comprehend the reality of Joanie's passing yesterday. So, I had to sit down and think back on all the countless wonderful times I had growing up with the Cutlers, and those special summers on the Cape. In all of the 42+ years I have had the privilege of knowing you, I hold such wonderful memories of a very special dynamic family that loved, laughed, shared their endless bountiful hospitality, and new how to make the best out of everything in good times or bad. It was that magic that Teddy & Joanie made together, like beautiful music...a great team. Joanie would walk in to a room and with her infectious smile, just light up the place. I don't think I know of a more upbeat person. Her warmth, humility and compassion for others is a quality so rarely found in most people today. All I can say is they didn't get any more real than Joanie. I will always remember our times and her talks with me, and how much I will cherish all the moral support she gave to me, and countless others.
Joanie, was a rare and precious jewel that will continue to shine in our thoughts. You are loved by us all and never to be forgotten.

Teddy, Robbie, Joel and Ellen, My father just informed me of your loss. Our Dad, Leslie and I have many fond memories of your mom all of them will continue to bring smiles to our faces. My dad in particular remembered the trips he and my mom took with your parents and the many wonderful hours they spent together over the years.
It was interesting that Sunday afternoon at 1:30 we walked by the Cutler Majestic Theater and looked in and saw the picture of Ted and Joan hanging there. She had an exceptional life. One which should be celebrated!
