Joyce Tedlow Obituary

October 2, 2003, of Newton, MA. Beloved and loving wife of Richard S. Tedlow, the MBA Class of 1949 Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Dr. Tedlow was born in St. Paul, MN, on February 4. 1946. The daughter of Sylvia Tomash Root of Madison, WI, and the late Morris Root. Her sister is Janice R. Sheppard of Madison, WI, and her brother was the late David Root of Washington, D.C. A graduate of Wellesley College (Class of 1968) and the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School (Class of 1972), Dr. Tedlow studied with Anna Freud at her Child Therapy Clinic in London before embarking on a distinguished career as a psychiatrist in private practice and as a published scholar. She completed a two-year fellowship in psychopharmacology at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1994 and also served in MGH's Depression Clinical and Research Program under the leadership of Professor Maurizio Fava, M.D. Throughout her life, Dr. Tedlow was known both personally and professionally for her kindness and caring for others. The funeral was private. There will be a memorial gathering on the evening of Saturday, October 18, from 5:00 to 7:00 at Harvard Business School.
