Ruby Vandergrift Kramer

Ruby Kramer Obituary

Age 96, died October 11, 2007 at Belmont Manor Nursing Home after living her life in Belmont. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Wellington Duncan and Gertrude Vandergrift Duncan who came from Nova Scotia to the Belmont area and finally settled on Davis Rd. before Ruby was born. She was the widow of Howard C. Kramer and the sister of the late Pearl Duncan Rosborough. After graduating from Boston University in 1932 with a teaching degree, Ruby taught the first year in Belmont and then the remaining 41 years she worked for the Belmont Municipal Light Department. Between Ruby, Oscar and Howard, they had over 109 years of service in the employ of the Town of Belmont. A service, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Rorapaugh, will take place on Friday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 36 Trapelo Rd., BELMONT 02478. Ruby is survived by a few cousins, including Phyllis Murton of Toronto, Ontario, two step granddaughters and lifelong family friend, Audrey E. Martin and her family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruby's memory may be made to the Macular Degeneration Fund at MEEI, c/o Development Office, 243 Charles St., Boston, MA 02114 (www.meei.harvard.edu) or Germaine Lawrence Inc.
