Jean Yang Obituary

YANG, Jean Miao Chen Age 95 of Braintree, formerly of Arlington & Cambridge, May 30, 2011. Born in Paoting, Hebei Province, China. She was married for 60 years to the late Lien Sheng Yang, Harvard Yenching Professor of Chinese History. Devoted mother of Thomas Yang and his wife Jennifer McAloon Yang of Braintree; Daoshen Yang and his wife Lizhen Guo of Beijing, China; Zhongping Yang and her late husband Zhen Jiang of Beijing, China and the late Lily Shuli Wu and her husband Weiping Wu of Fairfield, CT. Sister of Yue & Qi & Shuo Miao (all deceased). Grandmother of Jasmine & Tommy Yang of Braintree; Huayue Yang and his wife Jing Wang of Shanghai, China; Li Jiang and his spouse of Beijing, China; Feng Jiang and his spouse of Japan; Fang Jiang of Japan; the late Janet Wu, George Wu and his wife Penny Visser of Chicago, IL and Frank Wu and his wife Brianna Walker Wu of Arlington. Jean is also survived by seven great grandchildren. Dedicated Homemaker, Caregiver and Volunteer at Arlington Senior's Center. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service which will be held on Saturday, June 18th 11:00am, at the Chinese Bible Church of Greater Boston, 149 Old Spring St., Lexington, MA 02141. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to: Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184. (Please see www.peckservices.com)

On behalf of the Arlington Council on Aging, we would like to extend our sympathies at this time of Jean's passing. She was a regular volunteer at the meal site at the senior center for many years and many of us remember her warmly. She was a charming lady.

Jean was a volunteer with Minuteman Senior Services for many years Jean and I worked side by side at the Arlington Senior Center. When she retired she was missed and is still missed to this day. May she rest in peace. Marge Scott
