Dear Linda and family,
It was way past his death that I learned he had died. Oh my goodness to this day I tell people he was my favorite boss. I worked for him at Bentley.
June 11th, I always remember his bday but more importantly flag day. He loved that day. When I hang my flag on the 14th I salute John.
One funny story... He had been on upper campus most if the day. He came back at 4ish with a few hours of work to be done before we left. He was going 100 mph and was about to get a diet coke. I stopped him saying i would not be able to keep up. He actually listened to me and he laughed.
Most importantly, he talked about all of you a lot. His love for all of you was huge. I felt like I knew you all. The world lost a real gem. I miss him too. He was the ultimate gentleman. Deepest condolences. Eileen

Dear Johnny Shugert! My brother Talby's best friend when we were kids growing up in Pepperell, MA. Who knows? Maybe they are reunited now in the afterlife. My heart goes out to his family!

So sad to learn of John's passing. Our paths crossed at Bentley University where I worked closely with John on Trustee and Alumni matters. His smile and perky personality always brightened my day. He has left a footprint of goodness. My sincere condolences to his family.

John's warmth, playfulness and energy were very positive influences on me as a young child. I have so many fond memories of him smiling, playing hide and seek with Tim and Kate on the Green, going for that morning jog, he and Linda beating my parents and other neighbors at Trivial Pursuit... Sending love, appreciation and strength to the whole family.

Linda and family -- It was with much sadness that we heard this news. It was not that long ago we stood with John in front of our house discussing his interest in taking that little sky pencil shrub we didn't need anymore. It was awful to hear that things had gone downhill for him-- he seemed so upbeat at that time. We will think of him whenever we walk by and see it there in your yard. Sending many condolences to you all at this sad time. Amy and Bob
