John Dyk Obituary

John W. Dyk went to Heaven to be with his Lord on Jan. 27, 2011.

John was born on April 29, 1918, in a house on Churchill to William & Jennie (Bos) Dyk. He moved to his current farm outside of Churchill at the age of five where he overcame many physical disabilities and remained farming until he was 90.

John married Adelaide R. Pust of Lambert, Mont. on Dec. 1, 1956. Together they were blessed with three children. They ran a dairy farm until 1980. The dairy business was sold, but he continued raising their crops.

John turned the farm over to his nephew when he turned 90. He stayed on the farm until May 2010, when he moved into Parkhaven Assisted Living in Manhattan.

He is survived by his loving and devoted daughters, Darlene Dyk of Manhattan; Rose (Mike) Hoagland of Nine Mile Falls, Wash.; his siblings Bill (Marilyn) Dyk; Theresa Yadon all of Manhattan; along with many sister and brother-in-Iaws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, four brothers; his son Roger in 1979 and wife, Adelaide in 2004.

John loved the Lord. Breakfast was not complete without having the Bible read aloud to his wife and children. He loved to attend local church services and supported many in the mission field. His Christian legacy lives on in his children and the many other lives he touched.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, Bozeman. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Meadow View Cemetery, Manhattan.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Back to the Bible, PO Box 82808; Lincoln, NE. 68501, or Mission Aviation Fellowship, attention Tim Dyk, PO Box 47, Nampa, ID 83653.

Arrangements are in care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. www.dokkennelson.com

Dear Rosie and family,
This is your long-ago teacher reaching out from the past to write and express my sorrow for the loss of your dad.

February 2, 2011

An old song but still a blessing to many of us concludes, "We'll say 'goodnight' here but 'good morning' up there. We haven't been to Bozeman for some years but remember our last visit to Grace (before the new building). John was sitting in his usual place as in the fifteen years we served.
Though we may sorrow be assured he will rejoice in the Lord's presence.

God bless you all.

Darlene and Rose,I am so glad I got to spend some time with Uncle John last summer. It is so hard to lose your parents but just think he is running around in heaven with your Mom and Roger and all his brothers and sisters. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Love you both.

Darlene and Rose,
I know how hard it is to lose your dad. Remember the good times, the laughter and fun he had farming. His eyes always glowed when talking about crops and how many bushels per acre he was getting. We love you and are here to support you always! Lorraine and John
