Ralph Haight Obituary

Ralph G. Haight, 90, formerly of Bradenton Fla. passed away Friday, Jan. 27th at Beneva Lakes Healthcare and Rehab Center, Sarasota where he resided with his wife Helen.Ralph was born in N. Ferrisburg, Vt., graduated from Vergennes High School, attended Vermont State School of Agriculture and worked in a machine shop in Springfield Vt.. He was a Corporal in the Army and served in WWII stationed in Alaska 2 ½ years in the Aleutian Is-lands, Attu and Kiska; and 128th Army Hospital in Kodiak. Returning from Alaska and Seattle Washington he was stationed in the Lake Placid Club, Lake Placid NY where he met and married his wife in the Army chapel in 1945. He was in the Army Reserves during the Korean War stationed in Osaka, Japan in the 343rd Army Hospital. He received medals for the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, American Cam-paign, World War II, National Defense, Korean Service, Army of Occupation (Japan), and good conduct medals. He is a member of American Legion Post 24 of Bradenton. Ralph retired after 32 years with Mead Containers in Camillus N.Y. and was a union rep.Ralph and Helen spent many happy years in their retirement condo in Bradenton. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years the former Helen R. McCarthy; children Joan Pavilides (Nick) Marietta N.Y., Patricia Lanham (Gary) Myakka City Fla., Sheila Fenn (Larry) Camillus N.Y., George Haight, Bradenton Fla., John Haight (Tish) Myakka City Fla.; grandchildren Lisa Cree, Jary, Cynthia and Tracy Lanham, Melissa, Robert, Alison and Steven Fenn, Jason Haight, Kori, Tara and Matthew Haight and great grandson Dylan Cramer.Ralph's family extends their appreciation to the staff of Beneva Lakes for their kind and loving care.Services with Military Honors: Thursday, February 2nd at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park (Ellenton Fla.). Visitation 11:00a.m., service 12noon.

John, sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. This is Mike Fort from Keansburg, NJ. My Mom passed away about 3 years ago Feb 5th , 2009 from lung cancer. Met to contact your Mom but I was very caught up in my own personal situations moving etc. I got in touch with Mike Ryan he saw me on Facebook and contacted me. He lives in the town of Cary, NC outside of Raleigh. He send me the link to the Syracuse obituary.
