Patrick JOYCE

JOYCE - Patrick 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday morning. Pat was born in Buffalo, New York, on May 2, 1937 and was a 1954 graduate of Timon High School. He later attended Canisius College where he received a B.A. in English. He was a 1968 graduate of the University of Buffalo Law School. He practiced law in Maine for 39 years with Ed Cloutier, Paul Dumas, Ed David, Woody Hanstein, and his son, Kevin. He served on the Buffalo City Fire Department from 1960-68, as a medic in the U.S. Army in 1960, and was a patron of the Park Meadow Bar. Pat enjoyed golf, handball, and basketball in his younger years and was known for his long distance tee shots and the occasional forty foot putt. He also enjoyed traveling in his retirement with his wife, Patti. Together they visited Ireland, Mexico, nearly every state in the U.S., and nearly every MLB ballpark. He enjoyed entertaining with Dixieland Jazz and will be remembered as the host , guest, and accomplished grill master for many get togethers. He was predeceased by his father Joseph and mother Grace (Sullivan) Joyce of Buffalo, New York; and brother John of North Carolina. Pat is survived by his wife of 51 years Patricia of Wilton, ME; his sister Mary Smolak and husband Dan of Derby, NY; his son Brendan of Wilton, ME; his daughter Deirdre of Westbrook, ME; his son Kevin and wife Shelley of Farmington, ME; his son Brian and wife Michele of Brunswick, ME; his daughter Sheila Butterfield and husband Zeke of Phillips, ME and six grandsons and two granddaughters. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 11 AM at LaFleurs Restaurant in Jay, ME.
