GEORGE T. TETREAULT SOUTH BURLINGTON - George T. Tetreault, 90, died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. He was born on Nov. 2, 1918, in Richford, the son of Frank and Melina Tetreault, the youngest of three children. He was predeceased by his sister Jeannette Young; and his brother Charles. He is survived by his daughter Mary Tetreault of South Burlington; his son Thomas Tetreault and wife Sylvie of Manchester, N.H., and their five children Chantal, JeanPierre, Lysanne, Collette, and Francois; three nieces, Jacqueline Hanlon, Jody Demo-Hodgins, and Linda Sue Demo; and one nephew Edward Demo. He was predeceased by his wife of thirty-four years, Irene E. Tetreault in 1990. George Tetreault was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in October of 1941 and served until Nov. 8, 1945. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and served in the 2nd Signal Service Battalion. He married Irene Demo in Massena, N.Y., on July 28, 1956, and three months later they moved to South Burlington. He was employed by the FAA as an air traffic controller and worked at the Burlington International Airport until his retirement in 1979, comprising 34 years of service in the United States government. He was an accomplished carpenter, and an avid ham radio operator for many years, having restarted in 1986, this hobby from his young adult years. He held an "Extra" level amateur radio license, worked dependably on several area nets for the first region (New England), and was known as a "good fist" by his colleagues. George Tetreault will be remembered most by his family and friends for being a loving and devoted husband and father. Those who knew him well will also attest to his being a man of quiet strength and the highest personal integrity. He was "GrandPapa" to five children who will treasure many happy memories of him and will miss him dearly. His family now commends his spirit to the Lord, and celebrates the life of a good and faithful servant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 11 a.m., in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to the
