Gerald Heindl Obituary

Gerald J. Heindl, 68, of Middlesex Township passed away Tuesday afternoon in the comfort of his home.
Jerry was born in Penn Hills, Pa., on April 8, 1945. He was the son of the late Jerry and Mildred Uzlik Heindl.
After honorably serving as a captain in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, Jerry was a design draftsman, and retired from Durabond Steel in Export.
He was always excited to share stories about his day's work with his family around the dinner table.
Jerry loved the outdoors and spending time hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. He loved to travel, seeing 48 of the 50 states with his loving wife, Donna. He even took his family to the Czech Republic, to pass along his proud heritage. He embraced his Czech heritage, and was president of Czech Society of America's Lodge Mladi Bojovnici 306.
He proudly lived as a Christian, and is a member of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed music, so he loved playing the drums with his close friends every Sunday for Glade Run's contemporary worship service.
"Mr. Heindl" was passionate about mentoring young men through Boy Scouts of America. In addition to being a scout master, Jerry took treks of boys to Philmont, volunteered at National Scout Jamborees, and went on to be the shooting sports director for Moraine Trails Counsel. In addition to "Mr. Heindl" helping several young men earn their Eagle Scout award, he raised two Eagle Scouts of his own, through his sons, Jeremy J. Heindl, Esq. and Capt. Keith R. Heindl.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Donna Heindl, who he married on June 12, 1971; his two sons, Jeremy J. Heindl, Esq., of Valencia and Capt. Keith R. Heindl and his wife, Ricki Jo, of Fort Lee, Va.; his three granddaughters, Savannah, Dakota, and Cheyenne Heindl, and his sister, Ethel Harvat of Saltsburg, Pa.
