Lillian Michaluk

MICHALUK , Lillian Adeline October 7, 1919 - July 10, 2009 Miss Lillian Michaluk of Calgary passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on July 10, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Lillian was born on October 7, 1919 in Cardiff, AB and lived twelve years in coal mining towns in the Rocky Mountains. Here she enjoyed the surrounding environments, and became an accomplished skier and skater. She completed Sr. Matriculation with honours in Edmonton's Victoria School, and attended Edmonton Normal School. She taught school for six years in Alberta rural schools, before returning to University of Alberta for a B.Sc. degree in Household Economics, and to University of Calgary for a B.Ed. degree. She taught for twenty-two years in Junior High for the Calgary Board of Education. Lillian also enjoyed classical music and gardening. She is survived by her brother-in-law David Wade, of Ottawa, ON; nephews David, Donald, and James Wade; nieces Elaine McGuire and Laurene Button, all in the Ottawa area. She is also survived by six grandnephews and one grandniece. Lillian is predeceased by her mother in 1930, and father in 1980. Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 - 4 Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen's Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor's choice.
