Maida BUSH Obituary

Published by Calgary Herald on Nov. 14, 2012.
BUSH, Maida Fay
(nee Dunkley, Shaefer)
May 11, 1932 - November 8, 2012
It is with great sadness we inform you of the passing of our dear Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandma, Auntie and Friend - Maida Fay. She died suddenly on November 8, 2012 in Cochrane, Alberta, following a massive heart attack when her generous love-filled heart beat its last. Her departure from this world has left a huge void in our lives. She is now with Jesus, whom she loved so deeply. Maida was an artist, a musician, an athlete, a teacher, a missionary, a linguist, a writer, a speaker, a gardener, a photographer, a hiker, an actor, a storyteller and a picnic guru. Along with her husband Willard Bush, and daughters Cheryl and Laura, many will greatly miss her and continue to remember the life and love she shared with all. Her Memorial Service is at 1:00 p.m. on November 16 at the Cochrane Alliance Church, 902 Glenbow Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be directed to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Overseas Missionary Fellowship, or Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, AB.

Dear Family:
We will dearly miss our good friend, Maida. Her joyfulness and winsome smile was such an encouragement to us. Her thoughtfulness and practical ways to help will always be remembered. She was a very special friend...and so is her family! We pray that you will experience the presence and comfort of our Heavenly Father in these days and weeks. We love you all!

My condolences to Willard, Cheryl and Laura and all. I will always remember Maida's joy in life and in nature. I smiled to see your acknowledgement of her as "a picnic guru". Love sent your way through this difficult time.

Maida's friendliness, joyful spirit, and deep faith immediately attracted me when we first met in 1987 at a Summer Institute for teachers at the U of Calgary. There is a wonderful scripture verse that applies so well to Maida, and, I think, may be a source of comfort to her family and friends:

"Those who have taught many people to do what is right will shine like the stars forever."**

Now, and in the days ahead, every starlit night can be a reminder of Maida's presence in the hearts and lives of all who knew and loved her.

**(Daniel 12:3 - Today's English Version translation.)

We would like to send our condolences to all the family in the passing of a lady very dedicated in life to her beliefs. We grew up the Killarney district and although this time was very short we can still remember it and will continue to do so. God bless you all.
