Mary "Baby" M. Garcia, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
Our mother was born on October 14, 1929 to Ponciano P. Mendoza and Otilia Sosa Mendoza. She graduated from Del Mar College School of Nursing. She served as a License Vocational Nurse from May 23, 1964 until her retirement in 2005. Mary was employed by Spohn Hospital and Human Development Center. She enjoyed participation in reading Sci-Fi books, learning everything and watching movies. She volunteered for the Suicide Crisis Hotline and loved her children from the Human Development Center.
Mary will always be remembered for being a loving and devoted wife. She took great pride and enjoyed being the oldest of seven sisters. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Mary "Baby" is preceded in death by her husband Abraham S. Garcia Jr. after 57 years of marriage, her sisters Anna Marie Arment and Romana "Lillie" Lydia Ingram; parents and infant son Fidencio Garcia.
Mary "Baby" is survived by eight children Eloisa "Lisa" (Danny) Serna, Abraham (Rose) Garcia III, Richard (Mary) Garcia, James (Delia) Garcia, Teresa (Joseph) Melton, Angela "Debbie" (Joe Jr.) Hoffman-Solis all of Corpus Christi, TX, Patricia "Patsy" (Alfred) Villegas of Bastrop, TX, and Michael (Synphorose) Garcia of Kingsville, TX; her sisters Gloria Moreno, Arminda Garza, Rose Cunha, Clara Mucciacciaro, and Patty Scott; as well as 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Seaside Memorial Park Reid Chapel.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mary M. Garcia Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo, account 6600230897.
