Marshall Cropper Obituary

Marshall E. Cropper
86, of Estero, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. Formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, he had been a Florida resident for over 25 years. He was born April 24, 1923 in Canton, Ohio, the son of George Earl and Eva Augustine (nee Girard) Cropper. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II in Europe with the 749th Tank Battalion. He graduated from Ohio State University with a BS in Business Administration in June 1950 and retired from Republic Steel after more than 30 years of service, ending his career as Senior Director of the Business Systems Group, in Cleveland, Ohio. After moving to Florida. he enjoyed golf, traveling, visits with his family, friends and his participation with the 749th Tank Battalion Association.
Mr. Cropper is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jeanette (nee Schmiedl) Cropper; his sons, Marshall E. (Sharon) Cropper, Jr. of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Timothy (Linda) Cropper of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchildren, Aaron, Michael, Keith, Beth and Neal. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. Cropper.
A memorial service will be held in the Forest Hill Cemetery Chapel, Canton, Ohio, on Saturday Sept. 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. I am so sorry for your loss.
I think that Marshall was my cousin. My grandfather was Marshall Cropper and my father was Jay C. Cropper from Martins Ferry, OH. I have tried to locate family members off and on for years. I moved to Florida in 1971. I am now in Lutz north of Tampa. I would love to connect with any possible family members. Please contact me if you are interested.
