Joseph Gaudiello

1915 - 2014

Joseph E. "Pop" Gaudiello, 98, of Baltimore, MD died Sunday, September 28, 2014. He was the first of his family born in America on December 12, 1915 in Lambert, Pa. He was the husband of the late Elvira Ballabina Gaudiello whom he married on July 5, 1947. After graduating high school Joe went to work at HC Frick Mines, rising to the position of Fire Boss. During World War II he joined the army and was a Tech Sergeant. At the conclusion of WWII Joe started his career working for the Social Security Administration in downtown Baltimore. He helped open the Woodlawn Complex. Joe retired from the SSA in 1976 as a Supervisor of Claims and Investigations. Surviving are sons Joe and wife Carleen Gaudiello, Michael and wife Donna Gaudiello, John Gaudiello, daughter Rita Gaudiello, sister Stella Grim of Chicago, IL and brother Dr. Patrick Galla of Louisville, KY. Also surived by grandchildren Joseph and wife Jennifer Gaudiello, Kristin and husband Andrew Mason, Michael Gaudiello and Christopher Gaudiello-Bruce. Great-grandchildren Carter, William and Henry Mason, and Mia Gaudiello. He was predeceased by sisters Rose Burd and Mary Rosinsky, brothers Mike, Ralph, Jim, and Tony, grandchildren Gregory, Brendan, and Andrew Gaudiello-Bruce. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave., Dundalk., MD 21222. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 S. Conkling St., Baltimore, MD 21224. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, German Hill Road, Dundalk. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 S.
