Garrie Dean Helms "The Treeman" MONROE - Garrie Dean Helms "The Treeman" walked peacefully into his new life in heaven on Friday, June 19, 2015. He was born January 9, 1962. Dean shared his unique personality and sweet smile with everyone he encountered. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed his work in the tree business. His love of honey bees helped him to share not only the honey; but his friendship as well. If you were friends with Dean, you had a true friend indeed. His legacy lives on through his daughter, Stephanie Helms Almond (with husband Josh) of Monroe; granddaughters, Alannah (Lana) Almond age 9 and Alilliana (Lilli) Almond age 6. He is also survived by his parents, Garrie H. Helms and Linda W. Helms of Monroe; sisters, Sue Helms (with husband Ronald) and Lisa Helms, both of Monroe. The family will receive friends Friday, June 26th from 4:00 until 6:30 PM with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
