Troy Livingston Obituary

Troy William Livingston of Conover, WI passed away at Howard Young Medical Center on January 3, 2022 at the age of 78.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Seren Livingston (née Lewis); his children Scott (Voula) Livingston (Wheeling, IL), Dan (Erin) Livingston (Littleton, CO), Megan (Josh) Millman (Northbrook, IL); his grandchildren, Frank (Moon) Livingston, Aphrodite Athanasiadis, Will, Carter and Suzanne Livingston, and Sam, Caroline and Alice Millman; His siblings Ralph (Pixie) Livingston, Becky (Don) Morris, John (Carol) Livingston, Mary Margaret (Bob) Morrow and countless adored nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Livingston and Jean Minor, and sister and brother-in-law Vivian (Ron) Brock.

Troy was born on March 22, 1943 in Richmond, IN. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1961 and went on to attend Purdue University earning a degree in Engineering. He started Livingston Products in 1986 and spent 30+ years designing and manufacturing products for the medical field. The products he created saved many lives; a point of great pride for Troy. He was incredibly accomplished and had hundreds of patents to his name. He was known by friends and family as the guy who could and would fix anything, and would often be found tinkering with something in his many workshops. Troy was tremendously generous with his time and was the first to offer help to others, volunteer to speak at local high schools about careers in engineering and donate his time or fix anything at his church, St. Peter United Church of Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Troy and Seren met in Miami, Florida in 1974 and raised their children in Northbrook, IL. In 1995, they purchased a home in Conover, WI where they spent every summer as a family and ultimately retired to the northwoods. He loved driving the boat for his kids and grandkids and Friday night fish fry with anyone who was in town. His family was the love of his life and his passion for work was unmatched. He always said, "if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life."

Due to covid concerns, a private family memorial will take place on January 8th with a celebration of life to follow on Memorial Day weekend at his home on the lake that he loved. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity or one of his, including (Northfield Community Church in Northfield, IL or Pioneer Lake Association in Conover, WI).

Seren and family, I was very saddened to read of Troy´s passing this past week. I have fond memories of sitting with Troy and being impressed with his creative mind and passion for his work. It was rewarding for me to see Livingston Products grow from a startup idea to a successful company. The entrepreneurial spirit on full display. My condolences.

A large part of my childhood was spent at your house. Troy (and Seren) was another parent figure in my life and I will always think of him as an extension of my family. Thank you for the lessons you taught me and the memories I get to have with you in them. Much love to your whole family.

I have only rarely met people who so naturally, effortlessly share, transparently show their love of life. Troy was such a person and I am a better human for having known him. May his family know healing and peace.
