I was saddened to learn of Johns passing. John was a long time friend of my family, all police officers in Evanston. John welcomed me to his security force where I worked part-time for him for over ten years. I enjoyed listening to all the old cop stories he could tell so well. Good man, good cop, good boss, good friend.

Mrs. Cossarek & Family,
I am sorry for your loss. I am currently an officer with KPD and had the pleasure of meeting and seeing John on a couple occasions. I also worked with his daughter Diane many years ago at a Bank in Northfield. My heart goes out to you all and you are in my prayers.

We just can't believe such a wonderful and kind man has passed. We have enjoyed almost 20 years of being neighbors and have had many wonderful times over the years to share good times as well as face challenges. John was a giant of a man and attacked life with gusto and passion. His love of dogs and animals is well known to all. He always had a good word for everyone and my late husand, Ed Corboy, Sr., always enjoyed his talks with John. The Cossareks are the best of people and we know what John and Phyllis faced the past years with John's many health challenges. He showed great courage. We wish Phyllis and the entire Cossarek family our very best, will say many prayers and offer our deepest sympathies at this time of great sadness. Heaven is certainly a better place.

We are thinking of all the Cossareks, but especially of Phyllis and Susie. We live too far away to have seen John often, but we liked him and respected him very much. We're glad that Mary was able to make the trip from Australia this summer. Families are so good to have. We send our love to Sue, Andy, Kevin, Alex, and Whitney. Kind thoughts and sympathy, especially to Phyllis, and to you all.

Mrs. Cossarek and Family,
There will never be another John Cossarek, what a kind and sweet man. He always made me laugh. I think of him often when I usher the 9:00 Mass, he taught me well. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Phyllis, I worked with John for five or six years on the KPD and will miss John as I think back to his strenght and his wonderful sense of humnor. The first few days on the job he was showing me how to defend myself as he pulled his weapon out of his holster and fired five rounds while we were inside the KPD.He was facing me at the time and needless to say, scared the .... out of me. I found out soon enough that he was shooting blanks! Many times during those years(1966 until he retired) he would continue to lead me in the right direction by using his humor and his experience. I did meet you a few times and was at the retirement party of Musche and John. May God continue to look after you and your wonderful family. John was more than just a good cop, he was loved by most all that knew him, and those that did not do not matter.
James D.Fullington, Former KPD Police Officer.

Dear Phyllis....so sorry to read about John in the paper. We go back a long way...we used to live across the street from you on Arbor Lane and Connie and Jeff were in the same class. Its been quite a while since we have seen each other (we live in Scottsdale now and have been here 31 years. ) But I believe we both moved into the subdivision when it was first built in 1958.
May you find strength in the days ahead...there are no words for the loss of a mate..
