JOSEPH HEILMANN Obituary
Joseph C. Heilmann, 79, Korean War Coast Guard Veteran. Beloved husband of Therese, nee Murphy; devoted father of Cathy (Robert) Lachky, Joe, John (Andrea), Diane (Kurt) Adams, Dave (Erica) and Sue (Chris) Gleason; proud grandfather of Lisa (Tom), Bobby, Laura, Lindsay, Haelee, Natalie, Joey, Michael, Baby Heilmann, Sarah, Chris, Joey and Connor; great-grandfather of Ava and Connor; loving brother of Raymond and the late Marge O'Brien, Bob, Jean Northrup, Kay Gunty, Ed and Jim; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, 3 to 9 p.m. at St. Linus Church, 10300 So. Lawler, Oak Lawn. Family and friends will gather Saturday at St. Linus Church for Mass of a Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Member Ridge Country Club. Dad will be remembered for his wonderful story telling and jokes, popcorn with his grandkids, love for card games, family vacations, Florida trips and his passion for golf (14 holes in one). Dear Dad:
When I see your picture, I don't just see my dad. I see my hero. I can still hear your voice and hear you laugh. You were always concerned about others and never yourself. Your kindness, humor and general good nature was something all people, especially me, should try to emulate. I was so lucky God let me be one of the sons of Joseph Heilmann.
I sure miss you a lot, dad. You were the best dad a kid could ever have.

I did not know Joe but he was some kind of Basketball player. I was three years behind him at Leo High School and he played with Jim Lamkin and Dave Donegan. They were so much fun to watch and they were Catholic league Lights champs one of the years.

I know you hear me, you will always remain a part of my life and Naomi's. Life brings us much laughter, joy and comfort and amazingly you provided much of this during your darkest hours,and now we live in that memory and wish you and your family the Peace, comfort & joy you provided for others.

Shocked to hear about Joe. Just heard about it from Phil Regar, who lives next door to us here in Palos Heights. Your family and ours have been friends forever. I will always remember the great Eulogy to my Dad, that Joe did at his Funeral. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.

Therese and family members Joe and I were from the same neighborhood and Leo High School so our friendship goes back to 1946. We went on many many golf trips with our Ridge buddies and had a few gin games (thousands) I sure will miss my good friend and buddy. Bill Phelan
