The the Lux family: I was cycling down Aldine today and was surprised to see that your home and the parking lot next door were gone, so I did an internet search and came on this information. Please accept my belated condolences.I haven't seen Kathy for a few years but I'd often see her in the neighborhood in the time after she was kind enough to contribute photographs and stories for my book Irish Chicago. She was really a delightful, generous and funny woman and a proud Irish American. I'm very sorry to hear she's no longer with us.

I am grieved to have just found out of Kathy's passing. She was such an influential person at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and I certainly would not be an active member of the parish if it was not for Kathy.

My condolences to Kathy's loved ones. She was a vibrant Pres. of Renaissance Club. And she was very sweet when I saw her last at senior housing.
I remember when she told me that she was mad at her husband for dying.
Be well and remember her smile and all your happy times together.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy during the time that we spent studying together for our Master's Degrees at Roosevelt University. We became friends and Kathy invited me to her home often. She was as gracious as she was lovely and I enjoyed many happy hours and days with her. Now, in retrospect, I think she was the kindest and most selfless person I've ever met. I'm so grateful that I had that moment in time to meet this special person.

As a close friend of Kathy's sister Betty throughout grammar school and high school (and beyond) I remember the Connolly family fondly. I remember Kathy in particular as a friendly, happy presence. She accomplished much in her life. My sympathy to the entire family.

I couldn't stop smiling as I read Kathy's obituary.
Why? Because despite the sad news it announced, it also broght back a flood of pleasant memories. I met Don and Kathy when all of us were fairly young; I think that Paul might have been in about first or second grade. I went to a couple of plays with Don and Kathy, one of which if I remember correctly was written by a friend of theirs.
Somewhere around that time I remember being shocked when Kathy told me how much money I owed her for the laps one of the girls had swum at the Jane Addams Center pool. I had pledged a certain amount per lap, never suspecting that she would swim so many.
I remember when Paul worked at Evergreen Foods, and hearing some years later about his going to law school. Kathy talked about the girls, too, so I was kept abreast of all their accomplishments as well.
When Tom Tunney made his first run for alderman I gave a coffee for him, and Kathy came with a baby in her arms (she had asked if it was O.K. because she was babysitting a grandchild). During the course of that coffee, there was a diaper change in one of the bedrooms.
So yes, I'm smiling.
Kathy, rest in peace. It was a blessing to have known you.
