Robert Bailey

1930 - 2017

Robert M. Bailey, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017. Bob was born on April 8. 1930. He graduated from Swarthmore College and Northwestern University Law School. He served in the JAG corps in Germany with the U.S. Army, then returned to Chicago, where he spent his career as a corporate lawyer. Most of his later career was as General Counsel of Midas International. He started his family while living in Lincoln Park, then lived in Winnetka for 30 years. After retirement he and his wife Marlene moved backed to the Lakeview neighborhood. Bob's passion for travel brought him to all 7 continents. His hobbies were many and varied. He will be fondly remembered as a carpenter, kite-flyer, linguist, and photographer. He is survived by his loving family: His wife Marlene, his children William (Valeria), Jennifer (James Wagner), and Marcey (Stuart McDonald), and his grandchildren Liam, Erika, Marcus, Connor and Viviana. A private family celebration of his life was held on Saturday, May 20. Donations in his memory may be made to Journey Care Foundation (Hospice Care) 2050 Claire Ct., Glenview, IL 60025.
