Eugene Scarbrough Obituary

SCRANTON- Eugene E. Scarbrough, 91, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 at the V.A. Medical Center in Topeka. He was born on July 18, 1918 in Osage City the son of Charles and Lucy Henry Scarbrough. He had been in the nursing home in Overbrook and had lived in Eureka for a time and in Scranton for many years. Eugene had farmed for many years and had worked for the Goodyear Tire Company in Topeka as a tire builder and repairer. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. of Eureka and Scranton. On March 2, 1942 Eugene was married to Bessie Lou Hunter in Adell, Georgia. Eugene was preceded in death by his wife Bessie on April 6, 1969, a son, Charles Scarbrough on October 30, 1986, a daughter, Eugena Cord in January of 1996 and by a sister, Leola Scarbrough. Eugene is survived by his son James Scarbrough of Topeka, two daughters, Barbara Henderson of Scranton and Susan Lang of Dade City, FL., a sister, Goldie Pierson of Topeka, 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Eugene will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Lyndon Assembly of God Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS. 66451.

Ruth and Barbara, I am so sorry for the loss of Eugene. I really enjoyed him and the time I spent with him at Brookside, he would have me go and buy lottery tickets, we had alot of fun. I will really miss him. God Bless all of you.
