Vernon Henry Chadwick, attorney at law and author, died at Hospice Ministries Friday, May 13, 2016, following a struggle with cancer.
A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
He was born on May 4, 1941, in Woodville, Mississippi, the son of the late Carl Almond Chadwick and Elvena Price Chadwick. Mr. Chadwick graduated from Natchez High School in 1959 and graduated from Mississippi College and the Jackson School of Law.
After practicing law in Natchez for five years, he moved to Jackson in 1971 and practiced until December 18, 2015, a total of 49 years. He is preceded in death by his brother, Carl Hudson Chadwick.
Mr. Chadwick was a communicant of St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Bailey Chadwick; son, Price Conerly Chadwick (Lydia); daughter, Swayze Chadwick McNiff (Ian), and 5 grandchildren, Blair and Kael Chadwick and Connor, Maureen, and Lillian McNiff; nieces: Routh H. Chadwick; Nixie Bailey Zavala(Mario); and Ashley Bailey Washam (Gary); nephew, Alston Sims Chadwick (Kristy); brother-in-law, Charles R. Bailey, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sims Chadwick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to St. Andrew's Episcopal School, 370 Old Agency Road, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
The family would like to thank Dr. Guangzhi Qu, Hospice Ministries especially Marie Fenton and sitters: Lowvonee Ross, Gloria Sanders, and Janet Rias for their care during this time.
