Sunflower

Anne Alston Walker Manning, age 85, died October 8, 2012, at University Medical Center. Born in West Point, Mississippi on September 3, 1927, she became a lifelong resident of Sunflower, Mississippi. She was first and foremost a Christian mother and a homemaker. She was an active member of Sunflower Baptist Church for 55 years. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Walker, II and Ruth Motley Walker, a brother, William F. Walker, III, and a granddaughter, Anne Motley Manning.

Survivors include one daughter, Victoria Hawkins of Sunflower, Mississippi, and three sons, Reverend William Harold Manning (Teresa) of Utica, Mississippi, Mark Motley Manning (Celeste) of Southaven, Mississippi, and Brian Walker Manning (Teri) of Indianola, Mississippi; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:30 am, Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Sunflower Baptist Church in Sunflower, MS followed by a graveside service at 12:00 pm at Indianola City Cemetery. Reverend Tom McLaughlin will be officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunflower Baptist Church or to the Baptist Children's Village. An online guestbook may be signed at www.burtonfuneralhome.net
