Mrs. Schmitt was not only a phenomenal teacher and a respected colleague, she was a very good friend. She taught me so much about education. Although she taught math, she did not only teach the subject matter. She taught her students how to persevere, take on challenges, and become responsible human beings. I am very thankful for the number of years I had the opportunity to work with her. My three older children, Kaylee, Raquel and Benjamin all were lucky enough to have her as a teacher and they are all the better for it. My condolences to the family. She will be missed by many, many people.

Mrs. Schmitt was a dedicated and inpiring teacher. Both my son BenZion Radinsky and my daughter-inlaw, Tami Thomas Radinsky learned math with her and consider her to be of the finest teachers they ever had. I also enjoyed my association with her as a colleague on the staff of the Margolin Hebrew Academy/ Feinstone Yeshiva of the South. She will be sorely missed. I offer my condolences to her family; may they soon be comforted.

Mrs. Schmitt was truly an amazing woman. I had her as a math teacher for the three years I attended the girls high school. In addition to being a great teacher with her "cheat sheets", her sense of humor and hilarious anecdotes made my high school experience really special. I was so sad to hear about her passing and I just wanted to express to her family that she had an influence on my life as well as others. She will be missed.

I will greatly miss Karen, my colleague of many years at the MHA and one who, by dint of her dedication to the craft of teaching, her genuine love of her students, her good common sense and endless patience in and out of the classroom, has left an indelible mark on so many lives. I am deeply saddened by her passing, but celebrate along with all who knew and loved Karen the wonderful human being she was.

In the short time I had Mrs. Schmitt I really grew to love her. When she left due to health issues I was sad. I had just gotten used to her and had warmed to her then out of no where she left. My sister had her for a long time and loved her. She has so many memories of her and I'm sad that I didn't get a chance to learn more with her. She was an amazing woman and will be missed.

I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Schmitt as my math teacher for five years during four years during junior high and high school. She had an uncanny ability to take unintelligible math problems full of complex letters and numbers and make them comprehensible. She taught all of her students to break problems down into smaller pieces in order to find the answer - a great lesson in life for us all. She knew just how hard to push and encourage each student to ensure that they all reached for their full potential. And she taught us all to KISS - "keep it simple, studid!"
Perhaps most importantly, I will always remember the smiles and laughter that Mrs. Schmitt brought to the halls of the Goldie Margolin School for Girls. That jovial spirit lives on in the hearts of her students, and that is something in which her family can always take pride.
My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this difficult time. We have all lost a great mentor and a true friend in Mrs. Karin Schmitt.

Mrs. Schmitt taught me almost all the math I know, over the course of my four years of high school. She always recognized the potential of each of her students, and took a personal interest in pushing us to reach it. I know she will be sorely missed by the entire MHA/FYOS family. May you find comfort in the wonderful legacy she has left with the many students whose lives she touched.

Mrs. Schmitt was our favorite teacher of all time. She had more patience than anyone we've ever met. And she needed that to put up with us on a daily basis. One of the most amazing things about Mrs. Schmitt was that she could teach 7th graders basic algebra and 12th graders advanced calculus within an hour of each other. Before I went to college, Mrs. Schmitt reviewed all of the basic mathematical concepts with me during her lunch break at school. When I tried to pay her, she laughed and kicked me out of the room. Everytime Aviva and I came back to town, she always asked about us and took pride that she left her mark on us. We will miss her very much but she lives on in every one of her over 1,000 students.

Mrs. Schmitt was truly a champion math teacher. I had the pleasure of receiving her instruction for 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. She was one of the only people ever that made math make sense. But she didn't stop there. She was always jovial, and allowed us to have our fun in class as long as we didn't get carried away. She showed interest in our lives even after we graduated from school. She is truly a great person, one who left an indelible mark on my life and is missed by many.

Karin and I worked together for two years, and I thought she was solid gold even then. She was an icon at Margolin, and the kids loved her. Her laugh still resonates in my mind, and I remember her country-style dresses and gym shoes as she walked down the hall with her pulley book bag. Rest in Peace, fine woman. I hope her family has fine memories of her. She was one in a million.

Mrs. Scmitt was an amazing math teacher and person. She taught me for two years of high school and I learned so much from her. Not only was she good at her teaching subject but she also had a great way of helping her students unnderstand the subject matter in a way that made you feel really good about yourself. My high school friends and I have many wonderful memories of Mrs. Schmitt. She will be missed by us all.
My sincere condolences to her husband and sons, who have lost a wonderful wife and mother.

Mrs. Schmitt was, hands down, the best math teacher I ever had. She taught me in 8th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades at the Margolin Hebrew Academy. It's because of her dedication to her students and math I was able to excel in my studies in college and graduate school. Mrs. Schmitt will be sorely missed.
My classmates and I have been chatting over Facebook and E-mail about memorable Mrs. Schmitt moments....the memories are flowing!
My condolences go out to her family and friends. Mrs. Schmitt was a wonderful person, teacher and mentor.

I arrived in Memphis in 11th grade and joined MHA. I came from Israel and was truly nervous about taking classes in English, particularly in Math and Science. Mrs. Schmitt was super patient with me and encouraged me throughout my first year. I am truly thankful to her for her kindness and graciousness towards me. I have very fond memories of her and forever think of her as the best Math teacher one can ask for.
May her family find the strength and comfort in one another in this difficult time.

I've had the privilege of working with Karin over the course of many years at the Margolin Hebrew Academy, where, since she stepped down as upper school math teacher, she has already been been much missed. Karin brought the same calm, compassionate common sense that served her so well in the classroom to her relationships with colleagues and friends. She was strong in adversity and always modest and pleasant. My condolences to her husband, sons, and entire family, who have lost a very special woman.

I was a student of Mrs. Schmidtt's throughout high school (1990-1994). She was a very caring teacher. She touched a lot of lives and it was clear that her students meant a lot to her. Even 10 years later, when I moved back to Memphis and my wife became a teacher at the MHA, she was the first to offer to tell my wife all the stories of how I was as a kid. She will be missed.

I was so saddened to hear about Karin's passing. Though I only had the pleasure of working with her for a year and a half, her spark, wit, and dedication were inspiring. She will be greatly missed by her fellow teachers and her students.

I have worked with Karin since her first days at MHA. When my older children were younger, she brought me baby clothes for them. We shared stories of our families and our students. She was always kind and considerate, good natured, dedicated and funny. She taught 5 of my 6 children, and I know that she always went the extra mile for whoever needed it. Bringing pies for pi day, tutoring, buying donuts for the girls when the boys had special breakfast, she was always thinking of her students. Karin has already been sorely missed at school. May she rest in peace.

We will miss Mrs. Schmitt as we have already missed her in the classroom these past few months. I am a parent of one of her students - she really knew how to read her students and then push them to live up to their potential. She had such a sharp wit and a big heart and was an extraordinary teacher. Our thoughts are with her dear family.

I taught with Karin for many years at the Margolin Hebrew Academy. She was a valued colleague and friend. I enjoyed and respected her company and conversation. She was the consummate math teacher and professional. She always went way above and beyond what was required. She was quite the magician, handling so many classes at the same time. I will miss her deeply. My sincere condolences to all of her family members.

Mrs. Schmitt taught me math for 6 years (1998 - 2004). I can't tell you the pain I felt when I heard that she had passed away. I feel nothing but heartache and sorrow for the entire Schmitt family. She was the most amazing person and cared for her students like they were her own children. I will never forget her smile, jokes, and of course, her cart. The world just won't be the same without her. Not a single 3/14 (Pi Day) has, or will pass without her in my thoughts. I'm so sorry for your loss. You should know nothing but happiness from here onward.
