Evelyn Kemp Obituary

HILLSBORO – Evelyn G. (Davis) Kemp, 103, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Hillsboro House Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 15, 1908, in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of Guy C. and Emma (Farnell) Davis.

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel C. Kemp; and her two sons, John N. Kemp and Richard A. Kemp.

She is survived by her two half brothers, Richard W. Davis of Carver, Mass., and John C. Davis of New Braintree, Mass.; one half sister, Carol A. Black of Oakham, Mass.; nieces, Mary Jane (Kemp) Bumap of Leominster, Mass., and Myra (Kemp) Welch of Walpole; nephew, Ralph Kemp Jr., Barbara Reddy and Marilyn Taylor of Isle of Palms, S.C.; great niece, Donna Severance of Lunenburg Mass.; and a great-nephew, Gary Kemp of Leominster, Mass.

She was a long standing member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was well known for the many years she worked at Gerini's Store in Hillsboro. She was a great historian and would put smiles on everyone's face, as she would tell the stories of the golden days of Hillsboro.

Gardening and her cats brought her great joy.

Calling hours will be held Friday, March 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 32 School St., Hillsboro.

Services will be held Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The Rev. Cynthia Nickerson will officiate.

A burial will be planned later in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NHSPCA, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, 03885.
