Philip John Mutulo

Resident of Pittsburg
Philip was born in Pittsburg and was a lifelong resident. His parents, Angelina and Vincenzo Mutulo, were Italian immigrants from Isola delle Femmine, Sicily. Philip attended Pittsburg schools. He was a Navy Veteran who served during WWII in the Pacific on the destroyer escort USS Dennis. He met the love his life, Natalie Graziani from Antioch on 1940. They were married in 1943 and spent 60 years together.
Philip's passions in life were his family, hunting with family and friends, golfing, gardening and spending time at Al's Snack Shop with family and friends. He was well known for his dancing skills, especially dancing the jitterbug to big band music. He was an avid SF Giants and SF 49er fan. He was a member of the YMI, the Good Shepherd church, and a long time member of the former Pittsburg Golf and Country Club. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Pittsburg where he was well known for cooking, especially his spaghetti sauce. He worked for over 30 years at Fiberboard in Antioch.
Philip is survived by his children Phyllis Aubin (Mike), Vincent Mutulo (Tammie) and Gina Costanza (Vincent) and his grandchildren Michelle Hatten, Natalie Yim, Brian Aubin, John Aubin, Michael Aubin, Phillip Mutulo, Dominic Mutulo, Derric Mutulo, Vinessa Mutulo, Vincent Costanza and Salvatore Costanza. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Heather and Adam Yim, Isabella and Angelina Mutulo, Jonah Mc Coy and Ruby Costanza. He is also survived by his brothers Dominic (Sal) Mutulo and Peter Mutulo and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Angelina and Vincenzo Mutulo, his loving wife Natalie who died in 2003, and his great grandchild Alissa Costanza. He is also preceded in death by his brother Russell Mutulo and sisters, Mary Aiello, Jenny Spinale, Frances Billeci, Josephine Viscusco and Rose Alioti.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch.
