Howard Stansberry Obituary

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Howard Riley Stansberry, 62, of Evansville, Ind., passed away, Saturday, March 12, 2011, at his home.
Riley was born on July 7, 1948, in Evansville, Ind. He was retired from CSX Railroad. Riley enjoyed spending time at his home at Barkley Lake, where he enjoyed fishing with his best friend, Larry and boating with his family. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching them play sports.
He is survived by wife of 40 years, Edd Marie (Roland), Evansville, Ind.; daughters, Shawn M. Brown (Jeffrey), Mt. Vernon, Ind., Emily S. Fehrenbacher (Marc), Mt. Vernon, Ind. and Ashley L. Bateman (Jeremie), Evansville, Ind.; mother, Meraloyd (Edmonson) Stansberry, Evansville, Ind., sister, Jane Ann Wells (Ron), Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Madison and Nickolas Brown, Hannah, Sophia and Aiden Fehrenbacher and Parker Bateman; sisters-in-law, Mary McClusky (Larry), Eddyville, Ky., Stella Laffoon, Evansville, Ind., Florence Glazebrook (James), Morganfield, Ky. and Ann Market, Sebree, Ky. Also surviving are aunts; uncles; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Riley was preceded in death by his father, Howard "Woody" Stansberry.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 S. St. Philip Road, Mt. Vernon, Ind., with Father Thomas J. Kessler officiating.
Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, where a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friends may also visit from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess Hospice, 600 Mary Street, Evansville, IN 47747.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Deaconess Hospice staff, especially Lori and Nancy, for all of their special care.

I was friendly with Riley in High School. He was always such a fun loving person. I will always remember the football game when he kicked a field goal on top of the roof of Bosse Field. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and his many friends

So very sorry to hear of Riley's passing. We were friends in High School. I will never forget him licking a field goal on top of the roof at Bosse Field. Always a humorous disposition. So sorry for the the family and all of his many friends' loss
