Helen Capece Obituary

CAPECE Helen D. Capece, age 84 of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Griffin Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Capece, Sr. She was born in Shelton on April 25, 1925, daughter of the late James C. and Susan Papale Canganelli and was a life long resident of Shelton. Helen was employed for many years at the Griffin Hospital as a secretary in the OR before her retirement in 1993. She lived a full life which included vacations to Italy, Florida, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. Helen particularly enjoyed several trips to Las Vegas and over the last few years loved going to the casino with family and friends. Helen enjoyed reading, watching TV and doing crossword puzzles. Family was the centerpiece of her life and she will be missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Helen is the loving mother of Vincent J. Capece, Jr. and Beth Fortin, Rosemary Capece, Anthony Capece and his wife, Renee (Baron), Elaine Gar-guilo and her husband, Peter, Thomas Capece and his wife, Bridget (McClellan) and William Capece; sister of, Assunta Rak, Genevieve Williams and Margaret Della-Monica. She is the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, Peter and Matthew Garguilo, Thomas, Jennifer, Lindsey and Rose Capece, Kelly Perkins, and Nicholas Andrews; and great-grand-mother of Devin Perkins. She is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Canganelly and Vincent Canganelli; a sister, Ann Constantino; and a grandson, Eugene Perkins. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. Her funeral will leave the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary's Church. Her burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter's Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Hospital Cancer Center, 130 Division St., Derby, CT 06418. Friends may leave condolences at www.riverviewfh.com.

Elaine, Pete and family:
I have such fond memories of your (Elaine's ) mom when i was in high school. She always had a smile and kind word, interested in what i was up to, etc...
I know she will be greatly missed by her family. May God bring you all comfort as you grieve your loss.
