I worked side by side with Walt for 20 years at Ruger. We shared each other's ups and downs, and family crisises and celebrations.
Travelling with him was always a treat...without fail there would be a memorable incident to talk about after each trip. We laughed a lot. I loved Walt and will keep his memory alive forever. My kindest thoughts to Mary Ann. Fondly, Paula O'Malley

Walter Sych was a lion among persons. He was unselfish, always willing to let others take credit that should have been due him. He was as good a leader as one could hope to experience, and a mentor to many. Reading the remarks from family, friends, and co-workers, we can all take comfort from our life's experience with Walt. I will miss him and cherish his memory.

Memories of Uncle Walt: Laughing at Indian Shutters when he almost tipped the table over (was it too many Manhattans as Aunt Mary suggested or his long legs as Uncle Walt suggested??!?); TRYING to sail the sunfish on Long Island Sounds and laughing everytime we fell in; sitting on the back steps while Uncle Walt grilled hamburgers and hot dogs; turning his VW Beetle around in the driveway; his handsome smile and laugh; making Christmas cookies and wrapping gifts; dyeing Easter Eggs, taping coins to them, and hiding them around the house; tomato plants; teaching me how to cane and refinish a chair; making a craft table for me; spilling stain all over the back steps and trying to hide the mess from Aunt Mary (we succeeded); sitting on the curb with me and my dad when I fainted at Suzanne's wedding; clothes that were "too small"; pistachio nuts and gelato, cream soda and black raspberry ice cream; stuffed cabbage and pierogies and kielbasa and capusta (spelling?); copper pots, antiques, and paintings; his crisp white shirt after a shower and a long day's work outside; Mario's and making whiskey sours; clearing the table and stacking dishes after a big meal; his old green truck; pretending he was a poor Polish boy who walked both ways to school with no shoes; dollar store gifts and beautiful clothes for Aunt Mary for Christmas or brought back from business trips; freebies from trade shows; cases of beer for Jim and Greg at Christmas; taking pictures of deer instead of hunting them....My Uncle Walty--a gentle giant who will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

May I express my deepest condolences to Walter's immediate and extended family. Walt's family is much larger than those that knew him personally; he was a mentor and inspiration to those that saw him teach, speak or befriend.
He will be greatly missed.

Walt was my boss for only a few years. During that time, I never heard him raise his voice and he always carried himself with dignity. As we are saddened by his passing, may we also celebrate his life. My sincerest condolences.

It was my great privilege to know and work with Walt for 28 years at Ruger. he was a great source of friendship and continuity for us all. His ready smile, his helpful advice, and his self-effacing manner endeared him to everyone, from customers to co-workers to even someone as gruff as Bill Ruger. We will all miss him, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Mary Ann. With fond memories, Steve Sanetti.
