Gerald Sostrich Obituary

Gerald L. Sostrich, 59, of Old Cavern Highway, passed away on Tuesday, January 27,
2015 at Lea Regional Medical Center in Hobbs, NM. Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 31) at St. Edward Catholic Church with Father
Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
Vigil will be Friday at 7 p.m. at the West Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 1-8
p.m. also on Friday. Services have been entrusted to West Funeral Home. Condolences
may be expressed at westfuneralhomellc.com
Gerald "Gerry" Lynn Sostrich was born in Carlsbad on July 17, 1955 to Mickey J. and
Bettie (Mosley) Sostrich. He spent his entire life in Carlsbad and graduated from CHS in
1973.
Gerry married Carrie Sostrich Palmer in 1975 and had 2 children, but later divorced in
1986.
He loved his family and spending time with them. He also loved fishing, camping,
hunting, bowling and arrowhead hunting. Gerry was employed with Bales Equipment for
5 years and later worked for IMC for several years.
He was preceded in death by both parents and sister, Shirley Newton.
Gerry is survived by his daughter, Sabrina Murray and son, Michael Sostrich, both of
Carlsbad; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew and many
great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Dakota Srader, Brandon Pennington, Steve Thompson II, Zakk
Murray, Johnathon Rico and Daniel Nieto.
